GOOGLE TRENDS: May 2nd – 8th, 2015

This is my recap of the top searches for the week of May 2nd – 8th, as according to Google Trends:

KB Trends LogoMayweather vs. Pacquiao

The knockout for the week was the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, generating just over 7 million searches in a 24 hour period.

Mayweather won the fight against Pacquiao with a 118-110, 116-112, and 116-112 victory, according to the Bleacher Report. While Pacquiao held strong, Mayweather simply prevailed as the better fighter.

Other online reports, on the other hand, infer there should not have been a winner at all due to the fight being so underwhelming.

Google Doodle Song

Google Doodle celebrated journalist Nellie Bly’s 151st birthday with an original song by Karen O, lead singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The Doodle earned about 2 million searches for the simple song that went: ‘Oh, Nellie, take us all around the world and break those rules ‘case you’re our girl.”

Growing Trends

One month ago, One Direction’s former band member Zayn Malik made headlines with a leaked demo track on SoundCloud. This week, he made news by getting into a tiff with his ex-band-mate, Louis Tomlinson, on Twitter. Louis is now planning a “diss song” for One Direction.

  • “May the 4th Be With You”.
  • Adam Levine (“Sugar” singer ) was sugar bombed.
  • Shaquille O’Neal fell on his face while he was on set for the NBA.
