This is my recap of the top searches for the week of April 18th – 24th, as according to Google Trends:

Loch Ness Monster

Google Doodle strikes again this week, garnering over 5 million searches for their illustrated theory debunking the Loch Ness monster. The Doodle offers a potential explanation for how the now 60-year-old “Surgeon’s Photo” came to be.

Earth Day

Earth Day was celebrated with over 5 million Google searches this year. While some of these searches stemmed from content marketing initiatives to spread global awareness about oil use and compost, most of these searches were due to Google’s fun Earth Day quiz. To encourage togetherness and increase awareness, Google created a quiz to connect users with their “spirit animal” (of sorts).

Growing Trends

The Jenners
The first quarter of 2015 has followed Bruce Jenner’s personal transformation. Tonight, Diane Sawyer’s exclusive interview with Jenner will be airing for the first time.

On another note, Kylie Jenner made headlines in recent days with her “Lip Challenge” going viral. Young girls all over the internet are posting pictures of themselves attempting to plump their lips using water bottles. Unfortunately, it is yet another dangerous trend amongst young people these days – similar to the recent #CutforZayn.

Bobbi Kristina Brown
Rumors of Bobbi Kristina waking from her coma surfaced this week, after a few family members possible misconstrued what doctors have relayed in recent weeks. Further speculation now claims Bobbi Kristina is apparently out of the ICU and in a rehabilitation facility, though her brain damage will be irreversible regardless.

• The 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards happened. Highlights of the event included an appearance by Taylor Swift’s mom, Christina Aguilera and her cool, modern updo, and performances by Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert.
• 4/20 was celebrated by thousands across the country – particularly in Colorado, and at San Francisco’s Hippie Hill.
• Big Sean and Ariana Grande broke up by way of social media statement.
• Jessa Duggar is now expecting her first child.
• In select states and cities, Chipotle now delivers food to your home.
