Amazon currently only accepts trademarks from specific countries
If you’re interested in obtaining Brand Registry in Amazon, there are eligibility requirements you need to check off to even be considered. It’s important to understand that requirements vary depending on which country you wish to apply for Brand Registry in.
Amazon accepts trademarks only from the following areas: United States, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Australia, India, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Singapore, Spain, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Sweden, Poland, the European Union, and the United Arab Emirates. Amazon does not offer Brand Registry in any other countries.
Trademark Status for Brand Registry
Your brand must have a “live” registered trademark status from government offices in each country where you wish to enroll, or have a pending trademark application filed through Amazon IP Accelerator. The trademark must be in the form of a text-based mark (word mark) or an image-based mark with words, letters, or numbers (design mark). Depending on where you’re registered, eligible trademarks can have different classifications based on their issuing office.
In addition to “live” trademarks, Brand Registry accepts brands that have a “pending” trademark registration status from some countries. A pending trademark is a new trademark that is in process at a government office; a live trademark is a registered or renewed trademark. Though pending status is accepted for some countries for Brand Registry, it’s important to note that in the US, Brand Registry accepts only live trademarks.
Trademark text must match the brand name on the application, and if the trademark is an image-based mark with words, letters, or numbers, you will need to upload a copy of the image. This trademark must also appear on your products or packaging. Ensure this information matches before submitting your application.
How to Enroll Your Brand
Sign into Amazon Brand Registry using your existing Seller or Vendor Central credentials. Using the same username and password will enable access to Brand Registry features and benefits that are linked to Vendor and Seller services.
Once signed in, you will need to provide the following information:
The brand name that has an active registered trademark; the active registered trademark for your brand must appear on your products or packaging.
The trademark registration number provided by the Intellectual Property office.
The list of categories (e.g., apparel, sporting goods, electronics) in which your brand should be listed.
Amazon will then verify you as the trademark owner and reach out to a contact that meets our requirements. This person will receive a verification code. You will need to provide this code back to Amazon to complete the enrolment process.
Once Amazon has verified the information, you will get access to the full suite of Amazon Brand Registry’s benefits and features that help you protect your brand.
